Submission Rules

HKUST-Sino One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition 2022

 

(A)  Applications Submission

  1. All submissions will be in English and must be submitted online (Link to be provided when the application platform is opened) before application deadline. No paper entries will be accepted.
  2. Deadline of application: 23 March 2022.
  3. All applications are required to submit a 1-min Product Introduction Video.

 

(B)  Product Introduction Video Submission for Round 1 Assessment

  1. All entries are required to submit a Product Introduction Video.
  2. Contents of the video may refer to “Product Introduction Video Guideline”.
  3. Deadline of submission is 23 March 2022, 23:59. Teams not meeting this deadline may be disqualified.
  4. Format:
    • Video Length: ≤ 1 minute long (video longer than 1 min will be cut abruptly at the end to meet the 1 min requirement)
    • Language: English
    • File Formate: MP4
    • File Size: Less than 200 MB
    • File Name: Your team name
    • Resolution: 720p
  5. The video must not infringe on any third-party rights (logos, music, intellectual property, etc.).
  6. The video must not contain obscene, violent, pornographic, defamatory, objectionable, insulting or any of the controversial and inappropriate content. HKUST Entrepreneurship Center reserve the right to remove the video with offensive contents from the website.
  7. All decisions made by the judging panel are final.
  8. Any violation of rules may result in disqualification from the competition, subject to the final discretion of HKUST Entrepreneurship Center.

 

(C)  1-page Executive Summary Submission for Round 2 Assessment

  1. Teams entered Round 2 are required to submit a 1-page Executive Summary (single-sided A4 size).
  2. Must be written in English, not exceed 1 page, single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, A4 size. Contents of the teaser may refer “1-page Executive Summary Guidelines”.
  3. Additional covering sheeting, title page, appendices, or other pages are NOT allowed and will result in disqualification.
  4. Must include team name, team composition, team leader, exhibit and contents.
  5. Submitted in PDF file.
  6. At this stage it is no need to submit business plan
  7. Deadline of submission is 15 April 2022, 23:59. Teams not meeting this deadline may be disqualified.

 

(D)  Short Business Plan and Exhibition Poster* Submission for Round 3 Assessment

Short Business Plan
  1. Shortlisted teams are required to submit ONE short business plan in 3-5 PowerPoint slides and submitted in PDF file format. Contents of full business plan may refer "Short Business Plan and Exhibition Poster Guidelines".
  2. Deadline of submission is 2 May 2022, 23:59. The submitted version will be sent to the judging panel for background study before the 3-minute Pitch. Changes are not allowed after the submission. Teams not meeting this deadline may be disqualified.
  3. The Short Business Plan will be used for presentation in the 3-minute Pitch.
  4. Appendix and supporting slides are not required.
  5. The Business Plan must be written in English.
Exhibition Poster*
  1. Shortlisted teams for Round 3 are required to submit a Exhibition Poster for Product Introduction
  2. Format:
    • File Format: PDF
    • Language: English
    • Dimension: 1-page in 980 x 1390 mm
    • Resolution: 300dpi
    • File Size: Less than 100 MB
    • File Name: Your team name
  3. Contents of the poster may refer “Short Business Plan and Exhibition Poster Guideline”.
  4. Deadline of submission is 2 May 2022, 23:59. Teams not meeting this deadline may be disqualified.

* Remark:
In view of the latest COVID-19 pandemic status, the Exhibition is postponed until further notice. Hence, the submission of the Exhibition Poster is not required.

(E)  Full Business Plan Final Version Submission for Final Assessment

  1. Shortlisted teams are required to submit ONE full business plan PPT file format. Contents of full business plan may refer “Full Business Plan Guidelines”.
  2. Deadline of submission is 20 June 2022, 23:59. Teams not meeting this deadline may be disqualified.
  3. The Business Plan must be written in English.
