Exchange STEM programs for Hong Kong youth to visit the United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) 2024

The Hong Kong Emerging Technology Education Association (HKNETEA) actively organizes exchange programs for Hong Kong youth to visit the United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) through the Youth Development Committee's Youth International Exchange Subsidy Program.

In response to the 2022 Policy Address, which aims to broaden young people's horizons and promote their understanding and interest in science and technology, we acknowledge Chief Executive John Lee's emphasis on the enhanced ties between Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong, evidenced by six agreements signed between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabian enterprises. Recognizing Hong Kong's increasingly close relationship with the Middle East, we aim to convey this message to our youth. The cities we plan to visit also promote the One Belt One Road initiative.

These programs aim to foster understanding and communication between Hong Kong youth and their international counterparts, enhancing their national identity. Through in-depth international exchange opportunities, we seek to broaden our young people's global exposure and international perspectives and to observe the Middle East's progress and Westernization. The theme of the exchange program focuses on Science and Technology, encompassing areas such as ArtTech, Science, Technology, Research, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

As a group of young Hong Kong individuals aged 18-35 with a passion for science and technology, we are eager to learn about the latest developments in these fields in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi). This 8-day trip is scheduled for October 2024, tentatively from October 11 to October 18, 2024. We aim to provide valuable insights into the latest research and advancements in science and technology in the United Arab Emirates. HKNETEA will lead participants to visit technology companies such as Huawei in Dubai's Internet City, among others. Also, HKNETEA will arrange university exchanges and coordinate visits to the Chinese Embassy.
