The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(HKUST) startup teams received most of the awards in Qianhai-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2022 that jointly organized by the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center and Qianhai Authority. 12 HKUST start-up teams received a total of 12 awards.
The Gold Award Team ”AI Dyslexia Pre-screening System”, incubated by HKUST Entrepreneurship Center, has developed a novel system to facilitate the pre-screening process for at-risk students with dyslexia. Project Lead Fung Ka Yan(IPO) mentioned it is a good chance to explore the opportunity to expand her business in Greater Bay Area. She added that the team was very thankful for the support from HKUST Entrepreneurship Center and HKUST.
The Silver Award Team CheckMate helps to lighten the workload of the Workspace Owners while providing a much smoother booking experience to the Workspace Users by streamlining the whole process. One of the co-founders Ho Chi Chiu(SENG) said participating in these competitions definitely helps their company grow, while it recognizes their effort, it also gives us some media exposure. He also thanks HKUST EC for promoting this competition for such an opportunity. He added EC is the first supporting organization and gave them the first fund. Being an entrepreneur is never an easy job. He said they would strive to succeed and he is so proud to be an alumnus of HKUST.
The Bronze Award Team Contracfy provides innovative contract-handling solutions with top-notch NLP technology and AI-generated recommendations. One of the co-founders Chan Tsz Ho Gio(SENG) said they learned a lot through the contest. And the networking in the contest also helps to grow the business. He mentioned HKUST Entrepreneurship Center(EC) also helps a lot especially when the business starts. EC is the first place where we start networking and getting resources.
Every year, HKUST Entrepreneurship Center invites the most outstanding teams to represent HKUST in the competition, which allows talented students to broaden their horizons, gain exposure to forward-looking, innovative and entrepreneurship ideas and develop their potential through the competitions.
To encourage more young people to join the competition, HKUST Entrepreneurship Center sponsored two special awards, including HKUST Celebrating HKSAR's 25 Anniversary Youth Innovation Gold Award and HKUST GBA Youth Innovation Award.
"It's very encouraging that the contestants have exemplified strong partnership with members across different universities which brought together not only partnership but maximised potentials of knowledge and creativities between talents of different backgrounds from different institutions." said Donny Siu, Co-organizer of the Competition and Head of HKUST Entrepreneurship Center.
Qianhai-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau-Taiwan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition aim to discover creative and innovative young talents, cultivate young people's innovative attitudes, develop leadership potential and entrepreneurial spirit, and realize their entrepreneurial dreams in the Greater Bay Area.
