Last evening, the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center's Mentorship Network held its first-ever mentor-mentee meetup, with nearly 60 participants in attendance. The event was a great success, providing a unique opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to connect with experienced mentors and learn from their entrepreneurial journeys.
The evening began with a keynote speech by one of our mentors, Jason Yuen, Co-Founder of SOCIF and HKUST alumni. Jason shared his experience of starting a business right after graduation and the challenges he faced along the way. His company has now grown to a team of 20 full-time employees.
The subsidiary product line of SOCIF mobile app "EasyTransit" aims to promote Mobility-on-Demand (MoD) services within the Hong Kong community. One of the exciting initiatives SOCIF has planned is the provision of free shuttle bus services this Friday night at Lan Kwai Fong.
The highlight of the evening was the mentor-mentee speed-matching session, where each group had 3 minutes to pitch their startup ideas to the mentors and seek their advice. The energy in the room was contagious, with eager mentees seeking guidance and mentors sharing their knowledge and experience.
The Mentorship Network is a vital component of the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center's mission to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. We believe that mentorship is crucial for entrepreneurs to succeed, and we provide our students with access to experienced mentors who can guide them through the challenges of starting a business.
We are grateful to Jason and all our mentors for their time and dedication to the Mentorship Network. We look forward to more successful events and initiatives that will help everyone in HKUST community turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality. Stay tuned for more updates from HKUST Entrepreneurship Center!
