Opening of Wuxi-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center to Promote Innovation and Technology

Wuxi-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center cooperated by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Wuxi Economic Development Zone (Wuxi EDZ) has officially launched.

Officiating at the opening ceremony were Prof. Tim CHENG, HKUST Vice-President (Research and Development); Prof. ZHANG Fumin, Director of the HKUST Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute; Prof. Carrie LING, Director of HKUST Entrepreneurship Center; Mr. YANG Jianping, Secretary of CPC Working Committee and Director of Management Committee of Wuxi EDZ; Mr. Zhao Junming, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Wuxi Municipal Committee and Director of the Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and Ms. QIN Yan, member of the CPC Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Wuxi EDZ.

In the opening speech, Mr. YANG Jianping stated that Wuxi has a strong manufacturing industry foundation, which can provide more contract manufacturing companies and component suppliers for the development of humanoid robots. Wuxi can also provide application scenarios in industrial production, commercial services, and home companionship for HKUST robotics team.

 

After the official launch of this center, the Wuxi EDZ will spare no effort to actively create favorable conditions and provide strong support for the development of HKUST and the incubated projects. They aim to ensure the smooth operation of the center, nurture high-quality projects, and drive industrial development through the best policies, optimal services, and maximum support.

Prof. Tim CHENG said the official launch of Wuxi-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center signifies the completion of a closed loop between the scientific and educational resources, the talent pool of HKUST and the industrial advantages of Wuxi. And he look forward to a closer collaboration with the Wuxi EDZ, jointly telling the stories of Hong Kong and Wuxi.
