Alan Rodriguez, born and raised in Mexico, earned his BSc in Biotechnology Engineering. In 2018, he received the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Award to pursue a PhD in Bioengineering at HKUST. In 2022, during the final year of his PhD, Alan co-founded Flash Diagnostics alongside Dr. Xiao Lu, Mr. Haosi Lin, and Ms. Xianzhen Feng. The startup emerged from the convergence of the co-founders' research and the timely realization of the need for point-of-care molecular diagnostics in the veterinary industry, prompted by the increased pet ownership driving the pet humanization and medicalization trends.
