I am Nathan XU Nan, a researcher and an entrepreneur with more than three years of research experience in power management integrated circuits design (PMIC), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Microelectronics, particularly for sensing technologies and energy harvesting applications. I have led several research projects, for example, the "Digital transformation of laboratories with smart tracking tray and IoT technology" of the HKUST Smart and Sustainable Campus (SSC) project and the "Fully On-chip DC-DC Converter Design" as my major thesis project. I am eager to turn enabled research/technologies into beneficial products for a better community. That is why I chose to continue the entreprenurship path during and after my student era. Besides being a Ph.D. degree holder, I have also serve as the Hall Tutor for HKUST UG Hall VI. In my spare time, I am also a member of the HKUST UChoir and the Chinese Orchestra. With a cross-disciplinary background, I am good at video/audio editing, design thinking, and interpersonal communication skills.

Managing a R&D lab is tedious and inefficient for both students and technicians. Chemicals are time-sensitive, and tracking their storage condition and purchasing them in a timely manner is nearly impossible. Based on active and passive RFID technologies, we have built a smart system that combines software and hardware to automatically track and manage chemicals to solve these pain points. The smart system can optimise chemical usage and facilitate productivity in labs. Our Technology is a reagent tray system with an intelligent tracking function, including hardware and software. The hardware unit is an expandable tray structure based on Radio Frequency Identification / Near-Field Communication technology (RFID/NFC) and multiple-sensor-integrated tags. The SaaS (Software as a Service) platform takes charge of cloud data collection/computing and data visualisation showcase based on the progressive web and phone application.
