Hui Su is a Global STEM Professor and Chair Professor at HKUST, where she also serves as the Executive Director of the Space Science and Technology Institute. In 2023, she co-led the successful launch of the HKUST-FYBB#1 satellite and is currently spearheading the mission of HKUST Carbon Observatory on China’s Space Station to monitor the Earth’s breath from space.
Growing up in the vibrant environment of the Sichuan Meteorological Bureau, with both parents as meteorologists, it’s no surprise that Hui was drawn to a career unraveling the complexities of weather and climate. Before joining HKUST in 2022, she worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she was greatly inspired by colleagues who relentlessly pushed the boundaries of technology.
At HKUST, Hui is fueled by a dynamic spirit of innovation, channeling her expertise into creating tangible impacts. Alongside her colleagues and students, she is venturing into entrepreneurship, aspiring for Stellerus to take off and soar into the sky.
