"HKUST Hult Prize Program" is student-led program and supported by HKUST Entrepreneurship Acceleration Fund, HKUST Entrepreneurship Center.
This year marked to pioneer the launch of the OnCampus Hult Prize Program, known more prominently as the “HKUST Hult Prize”, which is the first social entrepreneurship focused competition for idea brewing students to compete with their big ideas. It will now be continued as an annual competition on campus, guaranteeing the champion team a position at the Hult Prize Regionals round held in a location of their choice from 30+ cities offered. From there on, the students gain the unique opportunity to progress onto the Finals held at the UN headquarters, New York with a chance to win USD1 million as seed capital for their idea.
The competition at HKUST this year attracted 80+ students to submit their big idea in alignment with this year’s challenge of “Building Startups That Have A Positive Impact One Our Planet With Every Dollar Earned”. With an information session and workshop with expert mentors, the Final Competition Day was held at The Wave with invited judges of entrepreneurship and social impact related background. As well as the opportunity of progressing onto the next round of the Hult Prize, participants were prized with many other awards, internship opportunities and mentorships from Alibaba Entrepreneur Fund, Deloitte and WYND. While the champion and runners up team both qualified for the Regionals Round, they could not travel to their chosen city due to Covid-19. Instead, the competition continued online. Several teams from our OnCampus Program also qualified with the 2020 JUMPSTARTER competition hosted by Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund.
