HKMA Green Fintech Competition

Background

The Green Fintech Competition is part of the HKMA’s efforts to enhance the resilience of the banking sector to climate risk. It aims to raise the Hong Kong banking sector’s awareness of market-ready green fintech solutions and promote the use of technology in green and sustainable banking.

Green fintech firms are invited to participate and showcase how their solutions can be applied to the banking sector to address one of the following themes:

#1 Net-zero Transition or Transition Planning

#2 Climate Risk Management

#3 Green and Sustainable Finance

#4 Sustainability or Climate-related Disclosure and Reporting

Eligibility

All firms in Hong Kong and around the world offering green fintech solutions are welcome to participate.

Interested firms will need to submit a market-ready solution for at least one of the above themes by 20 October 2023. You can choose to tackle the problem statements listed at this link or other problem statements which you think are relevant to the four themes.

Why participate?

Winners (1 winner from each theme, in total 4 firms) will have the opportunities to:

• showcase the solutions in the HKMA Green and Sustainable Banking Conference 2023 by making on-stage presentation and hosting exhibition booths
• enjoy free use of Cyberport's co-working space “Smart-Space”* for 3 months
• be offered a fast-track opportunity to the presentation stage of Cyberport Incubation Programme^
• establish business connections with 50+ financial institutions, 30+ venture capital firms and other government departments / business associations through InvestHK
• receive marketing exposures on the InvestHK’s FinTechHK Community Platform

Other finalists will have the opportunities to:

• showcase the solutions in the HKMA Green and Sustainable Banking Conference 2023 by hosting exhibition booths
• establish business connections with 50+ financial institutions, 30+ venture capital firms and other government departments / business associations through InvestHK
• receive marketing exposures on the InvestHK’s FinTechHK Community Platform

All shortlisted firms (in total around 40 firms) will have the opportunities to:

• display a video on the solution on the HKMA Green and Sustainable Banking Conference 2023 webpage to promote their brand

*Cyberport reserves the rights of final decision and interpretation.
^ Cyberport Incubation Programme will provide up to HKD$500,000 financial assistance to its successful applicants. For more details, please refer to the admission requirements of the programme.
