Alvin HUI
Co-founder & chief brand officer of sensory zero
Alvin Hui is the co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of sensory ZERO, a standout specialist coffee chain in Hong Kong. Together with his partner, Dixon Ip, Alvin applies business best practices in running Hong Kong's top coffee chain. Alvin's journey to becoming a successful founder started during his studies at HKUST, where a professor's love for coffee introduced him to a new world.
Alvin's passion for coffee and martial arts is evident in sensory ZERO's strong Japanese motifs throughout the shop. He was HKUST's Judo Team Captain and was awarded the university's Best Athlete in 2000. During university, Alvin trained as a professional judo coach at the Kodokan in Japan, the headquarters of global judo. Alvin's proficiency in finance and F&B management, combined with his love for coffee and martial arts, has made sensory ZERO one of the top coffee chains in Hong Kong.
Alvin's coffee chain stands out from others in Hong Kong because they use big data and science to apply the best attributes of their customers' favorite coffee uniformly across all products. This approach ensures that customers get the same great taste every time they visit sensory ZERO. Alvin believes that top coffee roasters often keep all the recipes and techniques in their heads, and when they retire, the special coffee they once made also disappears with them. This is not the case at sensory ZERO. Together with his partner at sensory ZERO, Dixon Ip, Alvin applies business best practices in running Hong Kong's standout specialist coffee chain—it's surely one of the top reasons why sensory ZERO is still operating since its founding in 2014. Alvin is eager to discuss further about his company's overseas expansion plans.
