I have a BSc in Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and am currently working to finish an MPhil in the AI space, focusing on computer vision, deep learning, and human-computer interaction. Over the last two years, I have been working to perfect Seekr’s technology as part of my MPhil project, and my team has built strong connections with all major blind organizations in Hong Kong. We have conducted focus group interviews with more than 100 of their members to trial our product and give us further feedback to improve the user experience. I have both the environmental and computer science expertise and business connections to extend the application of Seekr beyond urban spaces and bring VIPs into nature.

Vidi Labs Limited is a start-up based in Hong Kong that has developed Seekr, a wearable device designed to provide visually impaired people (VIPs) and the elderly with greater independence through augmented vision. Seekr uses AI algorithms to detect objects and text, offering hands-free navigation, privacy, and a discreet and trendy design. With around 200,000 visually impaired people in Hong Kong, Seekr provides a unique value proposition by enabling VIPs to identify objects and read text without external assistance, creating a safer and more comfortable experience. Seekr aims to offer a continuous, voice-triggered assistive mode with personalized functions such as object and text detection, as well as path navigation. This will be achieved through edge-facilitated augmented vision, providing VIPs with a guided map to navigate indoor and outdoor spaces.
