B4B Challenge 2024/25

The streams of the B4B Challenge 2024/25 is CarbonTech for Real Estate and VirtualTech powered by Al respectively.

• B4B Challenge continues to focus on how the value chain of Real Estate, ranging from new building material, energy management, design & planning, construction & demol-ishment, facility management, can become more sustainable through the empowerment of technology.
• One may relate the real estate businesses mostly to buildings and bricks, but in fact, the property sector is closely related to a wide range of other sectors including many of our daily activities from a workplace, to a retail shopping outlet, a transportation sta-tion, and of course our homes.
• B4B Challenge used to emphasize on & resolve highly proposition with specific social pain points. Last year, we initiated an experimental one, Virtual Tech for Imagination, and we are going to put in more specific, VirtualTech powered by Al, in this year.
• Virtual technology faces hurdles in hardware advancement, affordability, and user comfort. The need for powerful computing systems and potential motion sickness limit its adoption. Data also poses challenges, requiring high-resolution 3D models, tex-tures, and authentic datasets for immersive experiences. Real-time data transmission and processing present further obstacles. Overcoming these hurdles is crucial for making virtual technology more accessible, user-friendly, and cost-effective. Advancements in hardware, reducing costs, improving comfort, and addressing motion sickness can enhance adoption. Additionally, curating and processing data, improving data transmission, and expanding dataset availability will contribute to the growth and potential of virtual technology in various industries. In addition, a smarter user interface and enhancements across above mentioned sectors could be advanced dramatically due to latest Al technology.
