hackUST, the annual hackathon organized by HKUST Entrepreneurship Center and powered by OKX, concluded successfully last Saturday. This year's event was particularly special as it marked the 10th anniversary of hackUST. Over the past decade, hackUST has challenged and inspired thousands of students to push the boundaries of innovation and entrepreneurship.

 

With the theme Web 3.0, hackUST 2023 attracted over 600 participants from around the world, who worked to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. The projects presented ranged from universal anonymous membership applications to creating solutions for social and housing issues.

 

The Champion “True Camera” has developed a blockchain-based camera that provides trustful forensic evidence collection, self-certification of media public trust, and anti-AI forgery capabilities. It is designed to be used in situations to prove the authenticity of pictures where the integrity of visual media is critical, such as in legal or journalistic contexts.

 

Project member Yan Xizhi(SBM) said winning the hackUST Champion surprised the team and made them encouraged as a startup team. They will continue developing the product and make further efforts to reach potential customers and corporations. They are optimistic about the future of Truth Camera with the platform and opportunities offered by HKUST.  Great thanks again to hackUST and HKUST Entrepreneurship Center.
