Coin Dragon Limited, the award winner of the Fintech Focus Area in the 7th HKUST One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition, has launched Coin Dragon around different parts of Hong Kong in the end of 2017 with the aid of the competition award and prize money. The company has served several thousands of customers by converting physical coins into Octopus add value, bank deposits, and charity donations. The prize money has also enabled Coin Dragon to invite an industry expert who formerly worked at Coinstar in the United States to visit and give advice on the business’s operations and development. Several local media, including, Topick, Ezone and Unwire, have also reported on its service excellence. The business is founded by HKUST MBA Alumni and an Engineering Undergraduate student.  Richard Kollen, CEO, says “Coins are a big problem especially in Hong Kong, and it took almost 2 years to develop the technology and the operations to launch Coin Dragon”.
