The HKUST Entrepreneurship Center hosted the first Pre-Camp Nurturing Session of the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP) 2026, providing participating students with practical guidance on pitching, storytelling, and entrepreneurial communication as they prepare for the upcoming programme.

As part of the session, Prof. Carrie Ling, Director of the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center, shared insights on effectively communicating startup ideas to different audiences. Through interactive exercises and discussions, participants explored key principles of pitch delivery, message design, and audience engagement, helping them develop greater confidence in presenting their ventures.

The session also featured startup sharing by founders from the HKUST entrepreneurship community, who discussed their entrepreneurial journeys, business development experiences, and lessons learned while building their ventures. Guest speakers included:

  • Matthew Lee, Syntrak Limited

  • Sabrina Chu, PetWell Limited

  • Christy So, 10Lab (KOLab)

  • Matthew Au, RoameoAI

Drawing from their firsthand startup experiences, the founders shared practical perspectives on opportunity identification, product development, market validation, and venture growth. Their experiences provided participants with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with transforming ideas into sustainable businesses.

The session was characterized by active participation and engagement, with students contributing to discussions and raising thoughtful questions on entrepreneurship, startup development, and pitching strategies. The interactions reflected participants' commitment to refining their ideas and further developing their entrepreneurial capabilities ahead of the programme.

The Pre-Camp Nurturing Session forms part of HKUST's ongoing efforts to support student entrepreneurship through experiential learning, mentorship, and founder engagement. By connecting participants with experienced entrepreneurs and providing practical training opportunities, the programme aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and networks required to advance their entrepreneurial journeys.

As students prepare for the upcoming CUPP Bootcamp, they will continue to develop and validate their ideas while further strengthening their innovation and entrepreneurial competencies. Through participation in CUPP 2026, HKUST student teams will have the opportunity to apply their learning, refine their venture concepts, and contribute to Hong Kong's growing innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
