Partnering with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), HKUST Entrepreneurship Center has launched the Overseas Entrepreneurship Program from 27 Sep to 1 Oct, 2019, taken place in Bangkok, Thailand.
A total of 11 HKUST students were chosen to have the opportunity to spend a few days in Bangkok to gain exposure to the dynamic and vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem in South East Asia.
The tour was kicked off by the “100 Innovations & 100 Entrepreneurs Conference”. This event brought together social and technology innovations and entrepreneurs from the industry, academics, development agencies, and NGOs in a dynamic environment to build and create unique collaborations with positive impacts to the communities. Themes of the conference included IoT, Big Data, Blockchain, Business Intelligence, Deep/Machine Learning, Green Technology, FinTech/InsurTech, Robotics, Social Media, Smart City and Sustainable Development Goals.
The tour was also composed of a B.E.S.T. Camp (Business, Engineering and Science Students Ideate Together). This was an Ideation camp to motivate students to work in groups and come up with creative solutions and new business models to solve pain points of sectors relate to the themes around Social, Business and Technology innovations for waste reduction and circular economy. It was a joint school event participated with HKUST, AIT and NUS (National University of Singapore). All the students were divided into teams and pitched their ideas in front of the judging panel to compete for the Best Idea Award, Best Presentation Award and Best Team Award with THB10,000 each.
On the last day of the program, students had the opportunity to explore in Bangkok city and marked the end of this fruitful program.
