The Entrepreneurship Center (EC) of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) successfully organized the Annual One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition. The competition started with an Exhibition and Elevator Pitch in April, followed by the final-round Business Plan Presentation in early June.
This year, the competition grew in depth and scale with more than 100 teams of various and diverse industries. These teams were composed of HKUST faculty, staff, students, and alumni from schools of Science, Engineering, and Business. Judges on the panels of the three round assessments are from leading executives, professional investors and entrepreneurial academics.
Prof. Gary Chan, Director of HKUST's Entrepreneurship Center, said: "We are proud to see the competition grow further again this year not only in scale, but also in terms of innovative ideas, quality of business proposals and execution of their plans."

Mr. Andrew Young, Associate Director (Innovation) of Sino Group, and one of the judges and mentors for this year's competition said: "It was a hard decision to choose the winner from the finalists as they were all fairly good. I was particularly impressed by the balanced consideration of the business model, technology development, team structure and the proposed execution plan. The winner displayed a well thought of all the mentioned items, including a viable execution plan, environmental protection and team management, to deliver an environmental-friendly solution solving a real life issue."
