Prof. C. Patrick YUE
Founder of High5 Semiconductor (HK) Limited
Prof. Patrick Yue received his BSEE from UT Austin, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1994 and 1998, respectively. Based on his Ph.D. thesis work, he co-founded Atheros Communications in 1998, pioneering the world’s first CMOS Wi-Fi SoC and transforming wireless communications. Beyond Atheros, Prof. Yue has founded multiple technology startups—including Jetcomm Technologies (2014), LiPHY Communications (2019), and High5 Semiconductor (2024)—actively driving the commercialization of leading-edge research from academia to industry. High5 Semi, his latest startup, delivers breakthrough chiplet solutions for data centers and 6G networks by integrating silicon CMOS and GaN technologies. Prof. Yue’s companies have licensed numerous patents and accelerated technology transfer worldwide. He has been a Professor at HKUST since 2011, holds over 25 patents, and has published more than 250 papers. He is a Fellow of IEEE and Optica, and continues to shape the future of semiconductors through both research and entrepreneurship.
