Struan DSOUZA
CEO & Co-Founder, Cresento Limited
My name is Struan Gerard Dsouza, Founder & CEO of Cresento. My journey as a founder really began as a football player. Growing up, football shapednearly every part of my life—from early morning trainings to competing across Hong Kong. Playing at a high level while balancing academics gave mefirsthand experience of how difficult it is for players, especially outside professional academies, to track their performance, understand their weaknesses, and get noticed. As I progressed in the sport, I realised something was missing: objective, accessible data. Unless you were in a top academy usingexpensive GPS vests and analytics systems, you played and trained with almost no feedback beyond what a coach could see in real time. That gapbecame even clearer when I began helping run local teams and saw talented players struggle to quantify their progress or showcase their abilities. Whilestudying Electronic Engineering at HKUST, I discovered that my technical background could solve a problem I had lived personally as a player. That’swhen I committed to building Cresento. I raised initial angel funding, formed a team, joined the HKSTP ecosystem, and started developing a product thatmerges engineering with the world I understand best—football. I became a founder because I want to build the technology I wish I had as a player.
Company Description
Cresento is a Hong Kong–based sports technology company building AI-powered smart shin guards designed to bring professional-grade analytics tograssroots and amateur football. Our product—Cresento Lite and Cresento Pro—integrates advanced sensors (IMU, GPS, EMG in future versions), on-device intelligence, real-time data streaming, and a cloud analytics platform for both players and coaches. Our mission is simple: democratize elite-levelperformance data. Professional academies use expensive GPS vests and complex tracking systems, while millions of talented players and smaller clubshave no access to objective data. We aim to close that gap. Our solution captures acceleration, sprint speed, workload metrics, directional movement, and soon tactical understanding through AI. Individuals sync data via Bluetooth, while teams use a local WiFi hub for real-time dashboards. The coachplatform aggregates insights on intensity, fatigue, performance trends, and player comparisons. Our AI assistant, Cora, turns raw metrics intoexplanations and coaching advice. Cresento has secured support from HKSTP, HKUST, angel investors, and the GBA Youth Entrepreneurship Fund. Weare preparing for pilot deployment with clubs in Hong Kong and Europe. Long term, we aim to expand into multi-sport wearables and become the datalayer for grassroots-to-pro talent development globally.
