About the Competition :

To mark HKUST's 35th anniversary, the Firebird Hackathon is now open for sign-ups. It is open to all students, alumni, and young developers, in teams of 1 to 5. We warmly invite you to form a team and take part. No slideware, just things that run.

Event Details :

Event Title:	Firebird Hackathon · HKUST 35th Anniversary AI Hackathon
Dates:	18 July to 8 August 2026
Format:	Online preliminaries + on-site finals (Clear Water Bay campus)
Who:	All students, alumni, and young developers, teams of 1 to 5

Two tracks:

Themed Challenge: take on real problems from sponsor companies and go deep into industry to drive real-world AI transformation.

Open Track: pick your own problem and run with it, as long as it is cool and useful.

What you take away:

Compute / hardware / token resource support
Face time with companies, investors, and top-tier judges
The shortest path into companies: let your work open doors to offers

Timeline: Sign up (now) > Online preliminaries > Finals & Demo Day (8 August)
