The HKUST Entrepreneurship Center was honored to host Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, at HKUST for a meaningful exchange with our vibrant startup community in late August.

During the visit, Prof. Carrie Ling, Director of the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center, introduced the comprehensive HKUST entrepreneurship ecosystem and shared how the Center actively cultivates, inspires, and supports student-led startups from initial spark to market reality.
The highlight of the visit was an interactive showcase featuring 12 outstanding HKUST startup teams supported by the Funding Scheme for Youth Entrepreneurship in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area under the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB).
These talented teams demonstrated cutting-edge, real-world solutions designed to tackle industry challenges and generate positive social impact across diverse sectors, including education and finance, agriculture and food tech, healthcare and medical innovation, pet services, and more.

The startup founders engaged in a lively, deep-dive discussion with Mr. Leung, sharing their firsthand entrepreneurial experiences. Mr. Leung provided invaluable business advice and shared key insights on how the HKSAR Government is continuously expanding policy support and funding schemes to help young founders confidently scale and thrive in the broader Greater Bay Area (GBA) market.

Our founders expressed their immense gratitude for the timely, multi-stage resources provided by both HYAB and HKUST, which have been pivotal in accelerating their growth.
The HKUST Entrepreneurship Center extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Clarence Leung and the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau for their unwavering commitment to fostering youth entrepreneurship. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected innovation bridge across the Greater Bay Area.
