Planeteers is founded by two HKUST business administration students Aditi Deodhar and Swapnil Mishra. They have created an edible alternative for single-use cutlery to fight for city’s increasing waste and pollution problems. With this idea conceived by Aditi when she saw the epidemic of plastic waste, the startup joined the HKUST-Sino One Million Entrepreneurship Competition and won the Focus Area Award – Environment & Sustainability Prize. 

Recently, the team has moved forward for consumer testing of the edible cutlery in the campus. They offered people the cutlery for free in exchange for their feedback by doing a survey. “You will find that the shape for this badge of cutlery may not be consistent as they are all hand-made. We hope that in the future we can collaborate with some bakery shops that can provide us the molding machine to standardize our products.” said Aditi.

The team will keep modifying their product and finding bakery shops and restaurants as partners in the future to promote for the edible cutlery and solve the waste crisis.
