About The Mills & The Mills Fabrica

The Mills is a landmark revitalization project of Nan Fung’s old textile factories in Tsuen Wan in Hong Kong. This is a heritage and innovation project by the Nan Fung Group consisting of 3 pillars- a nonprofit Center for Heritage, Arts & Textiles (CHAT) focused on heritage & community, a retail mall Shopfloor focused on experiential & experimental retail and an innovation center Fabrica.

The Mills Fabrica runs a startup incubator, a VC investment fund and a co-working space/ lab. The focus area for Fabrica is in “techstyle”- intersection of technology and style (incl. fashion, textiles, wearables/ apparel). The Mills Fabrica’s mission is to create startup success stories and to build a wider community of corporates and organizations to inspire the industry and the next generation for innovation.

About Summer Internship Role

This is an exciting year for The Mills and The Mills Fabrica as we will celebrate the grand opening of The Mills at the end of 2018. In the meantime, Fabrica is running various pilot initiatives including a 12-month customized incubator, startup investments and a range of techstyle & startup community events including StartmeupHK IOL Summit 2018, MFB 5.0 Student Crowd Funding Project and other community initiatives.

The intern will help the team with activities and initiatives over the summer including:

• Supporting on the planning of activities leading up to the grand opening
• Planning and execution of Fabrica community events for startups/ corporates/ other stakeholders
• Fabrica communications & marketing: helping the team with day-to-day marketing and communications of Fabrica initiatives and events
• Helping with The Mills Fabrica showcase at RISE, the largest startup conference in Asia
• Assisting with wider market research & analysis to help with day-to-day strategic initiatives (e.g. understanding the startup ecosystem/ players in HK) and specific startup investment deals currently under evaluation.
