From October 12th to 13th, a group of students, alumni, and faculty members from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) embarked on a youth entrepreneurship exchange tour in the Greater Bay Area. The tour covered various locations, including Zhuhai Tsinghua Science Park, Southern Software Park in Zhuhai, Xiangshan Marine Scientific and Technological Port, the Jinjia Creative Valley, and Jiangmen Talents Start-up Center.
The tour was organized by the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center and attracted over 100 HKUST students and alumni. After a rigorous selection process, 31 members were chosen to visit incubation centers in Zhuhai and Jiangmen.
One of the highlights of the tour was the visit to Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence Technology Ltd, founded by HKUST alumni Mr Zhang Yunfei and Mr Cheng Liang. Yunzhou-Tech is the first enterprise in China dedicated to the research development and production of intelligent unmanned surface vessels. Xiangshan Port, the first industrial park project in China with a main focus on intelligent unmanned vessels of the marine equipment industry, is planned to officially open in 2019, and Yunzhou-Tech is the lead investor of the park. The group had the opportunity to learn about the innovative technology and entrepreneurial journey of the HKUST alumni and their company, as well as the development of the intelligent unmanned vessel industry in China.
The tour was a great success, providing participants with valuable insights into the Greater Bay Area's entrepreneurship landscape and fostering connections between young entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. The HKUST Entrepreneurship Center is committed to supporting and nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and looks forward to organizing similar events in the future.
