Prof. Hannah Xue was trained as a medical doctor in Shanghai before she received PhD training in biochemistry at University of Toronto and postdoctoral training in genetics at University of Glasgow. Prof. Xue has been a faculty member at HKUST since 1995. She has served as the Director of Applied Genomics Center and International Cancer Genome Consortium project leader. Her research interests are in complex disease genetics and pharmacology. Her group research has led to significant national and international recognitions. In particular, the discovery of schizophrenia gene GABRB2 along with systematic functional studies on the same gene has been internationally impactful.
Company Description
Prof. Xue co-founded PharmacoGenetics Limited (PGL) with HKUST colleagues and the University R&D Co. The Company has been successful in capitalizing research outputs from HKUST and has established product pipelines with production facilities established locally, spearheading firmly and steadily in promoting biopharma industry and society healthcare for Hong Kong.
