Haywood Shum, the CEO & Co-Founder of binery.co, and his co-founder Calvin Lui, launched Binery in June 2021 to address the digitisation gap in bookkeeping. Despite not being formally trained accountants, they recognised the market demand for simplified and automated bookkeeping processes, which larger accounting firms had overlooked due to low margins. Based on two key observations, they developed an automated bookkeeping product that caters to small business owners who may not have the financial literacy or time for traditional accounting software. Their aim is to help digitise an essential yet traditionally low-margin process.
