Prof. Tom Cheung is a highly accomplished scientist in stem cell biology, cell metabolism, and aging research. Upon receiving his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2006, and completing his postdoctoral training in Prof. Thomas Rando's laboratory at Stanford University School of Medicine, he joined the Division of Life Science at HKUST in 2013, currently serving as S H Ho Associate Professor of Life Science. He is the Director of the HKUST Biotechnology Research Institute, the HKUST-MGI Joint Research Center, and the HKUST-Nan Fung Joint Laboratory. He received the Croucher Innovation Award in 2015 for studying the molecular regulation of stem cell aging. In 2018, he co-founded Fountain Therapeutics with Prof. Thomas Rando and Dr. Joseph Rodgers.
