The HKUST Entrepreneurship Center proudly launched the fifth cohort of its flagship Entrepreneurship 101 Training Program on September 4, 2025, a rigorous 10-week foundational initiative meticulously designed to transform aspiring innovators into capable entrepreneurs through a systematic progression from conceptual ideation to actionable venture development.

Serving as the cornerstone of entrepreneurial education at HKUST, the program guides participants through ten essential modules, equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and mindset required to navigate the journey from 0 to 1.

The Fall 2025/26 cohort convened 60 highly motivated students representing a broad spectrum of disciplines, including science, engineering, business, and the humanities. Notably, 50% of the participants are international students, contributing diverse global perspectives that enrich collaborative discourse and creative problem-solving.

The program commenced with an insightful opening address by Professor Carrie Ling, Director of the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center, who delivered a comprehensive session titled “Entrepreneurship: An Overview,” setting a visionary foundation for the cohort’s transformative journey.

Over the next ten weeks, participants will engage in a structured curriculum encompassing:

•  Application of social innovation and design thinking to address pressing real-world challenges

•  Development of robust venture concepts using the Business Model Canvas

•  Formulation of intellectual property strategies to protect innovations

•  Mastery of critical operational domains, including legal frameworks, startup financing, digital marketing, and investor pitching

We extend our deepest gratitude to Professor Carrie Hang-yin Ling, our distinguished guest speakers, and the exceptional cohort of participants for their unwavering commitment and intellectual contributions, which collectively elevate this program into a powerful catalyst for entrepreneurial excellence.
