Jay PARK
Co-Founder & COO, VISIONARI LIMITED
I studied Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering at HKUST, and continued on to do my MPhil from 2019-2022. During my MPhil, I led a teaching innovation project funded by UGC to help students train and practice aerospace engineering labs using AR technology. That project helped improve laboratory instruction efficiency by over 30% and improved students' laboratory preparedness by over 50% in our study. At the time, it was just a side project for me. But when my current co-founder, Dr. Ryu Fattah, who was at the time the laboratory facility manager of the HKUST Aerodynamics and Acoustics Facility, saw my teaching innovation project, he proposed that we turn this into a business. We were both first-time founders, and knew nothing about starting a company. For a few years, we tried different things, faced lots of rejection, and learned a lot about building a company. In the past 12 months, we found clarity and focus in our startup, launching our MVP and gaining traction, especially as schools begin adopting AI in the classroom.
Company Description
Visionari helps teachers bring interactive 3D labs with AI activities to their science students. The new science curriculum requires primary students to learn around 50 experiments/labs during their primary years, but schools do not have the resources and teachers do not have the training to meet this curriculum. Our 3D labs allow students to practice hands-on experiments before, during, and after class, while our customisable AI activities help students discuss experiment results with immediate feedback. Our dashboard also helps teachers understand common misconceptions in their class through AI analysis. Starting with primary schools, we are building out our platform to change how science lessons are delivered.
